Choosing the correct LED driver is one of the most important steps when designing a reliable lighting system. An incompatible driver can lead to flickering, reduced brightness, shortened LED lifespan or complete system failure. This guide explains the key specifications you should compare before selecting an LED driver for your project.


1. Determine the Output Type

First identify whether your LED fixture requires:

  • Constant Current
  • Constant Voltage

Always follow the fixture manufacturer's recommendation.


2. Check the Output Current

For constant-current drivers, verify:

  • 350mA
  • 500mA
  • 700mA
  • 1050mA

Using an incorrect current may damage the LED module.


3. Confirm Input Voltage

Choose an input range suitable for your region.

Examples:

  • 120V
  • 120-277VAC
  • 200-240VAC

Universal input models provide greater installation flexibility.


4. Select the Right Dimming Method

Common dimming protocols include:
